About Nelson Committee on Homelessness
The Nelson Committee on Homelessness (NCOH) has been active since 2001 addressing poverty and homelessness issues in Nelson. We work with members of the community, businesses, governments and other stakeholders for long-term solutions to poverty and homelessness in Nelson, BC.
WHAT WE DO:
We encourage collaboration, new initiatives, research, information sharing, knowledge-building and community partnerships among all stakeholders to find solutions to address homelessness.
NCOH has successfully supported the creation of community programs including the Nelson Food Cupboard, Stepping Stones Emergency Shelter, Ward Street Place affordable living, Winter Emergency Bed Programs, the Homeless Prevention Program and the Residential Transitional Support Program.
Each year NCOH researches and produces the Annual Report Card on Homelessness for Nelson BC. NCOH also leads annual community events and initiatives, including Homelessness Action Week in October and Community Connect Day in November. Thank yous for this years event..
