Nelson CARES Society is a Non-Profit Society determined to make Nelson a better place for all residents.
Nelson CARES Society adopted the Policy Governance Model in 2006 based on the Governance Model developed by Dr. John Carver. This model emphasizes issues of organizational purpose (ENDS) from all other organizational issues (MEANS), placing primary importance on those Ends. Policy Governance boards attempt to accomplish its ENDS are only limited by its staffs’ ability to function within established standards of conduct that do not violate the board’s pre-stated standards of prudence and ethics as set forth in its Policy Manual.
Nelson CARES Society is governed by a volunteer Board of dedicated community members. It is a “working board” that expects each member to participate in regular board meetings as well as committees of the board that meet as needed.
Nelson CARES Society programs thrive on the involvement and contribution of many funders, colleagues, volunteers, community partners and staff.
Nelson CARES Society welcomes input from the community, donations of time and dollars, curiosity about our programs, and involvement on the volunteer Board of Directors.
