Happy 10th Anniversary!! We are excited to announce that 2024 will be the 10th year that Nelson CARES Society will host the Coldest Night of the Year fundraising event. On Saturday, Feb 24th, hundreds of Nelsonites will walk together in the chilly, dark streets. Participants will better understand the experience of being on the streets during a cold Canadian winter.

Nelson CARES Society wants to thank the community wholeheartedly for showing up each and every year in such a big way to support this fundraising event. In the past nine years that Nelson CARES Society has been hosting this event, the community has raised almost $550,000. This year, the funds raised will go to support the Ready for Home Program that operates out of Ward Street Place and helps those residents navigate government and healthcare systems so they can remain housed and move toward a better life.

The very first event in 2015 had almost 400 walkers and over 1000 donors, last year they broke a new record with over $100,000 raised locally. Nelson CARES Society is excited to see what fundraising heights can be reached in 2024.

During the holidays, as we gather with friends and family, please consider creating a Coldest Night fundraising team.

Much gratitude to the sponsors who have already signed on to support this event: Nelson Home Building Centre, Ellenwood Home, Hemlock Homes, Hume Hotel & Spa, Inland Allcare Industrial Distribution, Nelson Ford, The Adventure Hotel, Urban Systems, and Mistiso’s Place Vacation Rentals. If your business is curious about sponsorship, please reach out to cnoy@nelsoncares.ca.
